About Us

The story started

Animal Actors

In 1970 the oldest and largest motion picture compound, Jungleland, closed its gates forever. One month later a few of it former trainers started “Animal Actors of Hollywood”.    We have successfully been providing the industry with professionally trained animals of all kinds ever since.   Filming here in Southern California, as well as all over the USA and the world.   There is no job too large or too small.

More recently our animals have appeared in the TV series “Bless This Mess”, “Fuller House”, “Single Parent”,”Speechless”, and “Shameless”.   As well as the feature films “Nine Lives”, and “Ballad of Buster Scrugs”.There are too many projects to mention here, but we have a long credit list we can give you.

Our specialty has always been to accomplish the difficult and the unusual. Our Hollywood animal trainers and handlers with their animal actors did the TV series “Pushing Daisies”, “Manimal”, “Peaceable Kingdom”, & “Bring Em Back Alive”, all using dozens of animals every episode.  Our dogs and cats are remembered for their work on such films as “Ladykillers”. “Men In Black I & II”, “Fluke”, “No Country For Old Men”, and more.

For “Dr. Dolittle” the script called for giraffe Rex Harrison could ride.  On the John Schlesinger picture “Honkey Tonk Freeway” they wanted us to train a water skiing elephant.  We did Both.  One of our chimpanzees taught humans on the “Valvoline Commercial” how to change your own oil and save bananas.

We did not ship coal to Newcastle, but we did take fifteen lions to Africa to act in “Living Free” and “The Born Free Television Series”.  Some other animals we transported to Africa for “Sheena” and “Out of Africa” include an elephant, rhino, four chimps, lions, leopards, hawks, horses, dogs, and a dozen flamingos.  Our monkeys filmed in Malta, Thailand, and Puerto Rico.   Our wolves appeared in “Never Cry Wolf”, “Dracula” and “Ladyhawke” traveling to many locations.

We are the original company called “Animal Actors”.   Don’t be confused with others now using similar names.  If you need animals, Hollywood animal trainers and handlers for your project please give us a call.   We are happy to break down your script and give you an estimate.
